A Lg2 Case Study
Hydro-Québec, a government-owned power utility and Canada's largest electricity producer, faced public opposition after unveiling an ambitious plan to increase its electricity production by 30%. The challenge was to educate the public on the complexities of the energy transition and help them understand the necessary trade-offs. The vendor LG2 was engaged to address this challenge.
LG2's Digital Experience team built a web-based interactive simulation game called Mission 2035: The Energy Mix Game. The solution allowed users to select their own mix of energy sources to generate the required power, balancing costs, reliability, and environmental impact. The game was a powerful success for LG2, changing public perception: 52% of users finished the game and submitted their energy mix, and 75% of them said it helped them understand the compromises Hydro-Québec must make. The majority of users also agreed that Hydro-Québec's proposed mix was the best solution.
