LG and Hilton Join Forces for Forward-Thinking Hotel TV Recycling Program

Hilton Newark Airport sought a sustainable solution to responsibly recycle its outdated in-room televisions, a challenge driven by both environmental values and New Jersey state legislation banning televisions from landfills. The hotel partnered with LG Commercial Displays and a firm called Global Sustainability Solutions to facilitate a corporate-wide recycling program while upgrading to new, energy-efficient TVs with minimal disruption to guests.

The solution from LG involved offsetting recycling costs and providing new 43-inch Energy Star certified LG televisions. The pilot project at the Newark location successfully and efficiently recycled nearly 400 old TVs, completing the swap two days ahead of schedule. This allowed Hilton to enhance its guest experience with new technology while fulfilling its commitment to responsible electronics recycling, paving the way for a nationwide program.
