How ScanTrust Brought Transparency to the Supply Chain with Hyperledger Sawtooth

The customer, Cambio Coffee, a direct trade organic coffee company, wanted to bring more transparency to its ethical trade business and validate its supply chain claims to consumers. The vendor, ScanTrust, enhanced its SaaS platform and secure QR code offering by utilizing Hyperledger Sawtooth to build a blockchain-enabled traceability function to meet this challenge.

ScanTrust implemented a solution using a 3-node Hyperledger Sawtooth cluster to create an immutable record of the coffee's journey. This allowed Cambio Coffee to put ScanTrust's unique QR codes on packs, enabling consumers to scan and see the verified supply chain history. The result was an enthusiastic customer response. Cambio Coffee began rolling out the system, with the roaster and delivery company entering data, and plans to expand to shippers and farmers for full supply chain transparency. ScanTrust's solution also opened doors for future blockchain initiatives like "Tip your farmer."
