Case Study: Botanical Water Technologies creates a global water trading platform with LF Decentralized Trust and Hyperledger Fabric

A LF Decentralized Trust Case Study

Preview of the Botanical Water Technologies Case Study

Fujitsu and Botanical Water Technologies create the world’s first global water trading platform using Hyperledger Fabric

Botanical Water Technologies faced the challenge of scaling its innovative process for recovering water from fruit and vegetable concentration. They needed a secure, global trading platform to connect water buyers and sellers, track every transaction, and certify water credits and donations. They partnered with Fujitsu to build this world-first exchange.

Fujitsu designed and implemented the Botanical Water Exchange (BWX) using a private permissioned blockchain based on Hyperledger Fabric. This solution provides an immutable, trusted record for water sales, Water Impact Credits (WICs), and donations. The platform launched in Q2 2022, and with full deployment, it aims to recover up to 3 trillion liters of water annually and provide clean water to 100 million vulnerable people by 2025.
