Waste Management and Recycling Company needed to rein in rising print costs and better manage a highly complex output environment spanning thousands of devices, millions of pages, and many locations. It turned to Lexmark for managed print services, proactive consumables management, extended warranty, and Lexmark multifunction products (MFPs) to assess what was being printed and find ways to reduce waste and expense.

Lexmark implemented a nationwide, multiyear MPS agreement and replaced the fragmented fleet with standardized Lexmark MFPs, starting at headquarters and then expanding to 638 locations. The results were significant: output costs fell 33%, the fleet shrank 58% from 5,800 devices to 2,400, total pages dropped 10% from 172 million to 155 million, and printer-to-employee ratios improved from 1.2:1 to 5.5:1.
