A Lexmark Case Study
Unum Group, a large insurance provider serving millions of individuals and businesses, was struggling with heavy paper-based workflows across faxing, claims processing, and document sharing. The company had already standardized on Lexmark multifunction products and wanted a more efficient way to reduce paper, lower costs, and improve service and productivity.
Using Lexmark software and embedded solutions, Unum Group built custom workflows for fax routing, claims intake, scan-to-email, and document sharing, and planned to add Lexmark Print Release. The results included retiring half of 1,500 standalone fax machines in months, eliminating analog lines, saving nearly $1 million annually, and routing 600,000 faxes internally each year; Lexmark also helped improve quality, auditability, and efficiency while reducing printing waste by an expected 15%.
