A Lexmark Case Study
The University of Regina wanted to make sustainability central to campus operations, but its printing environment was consuming too much paper, toner, electricity, and money. The university found more than 1,200 printers and copiers across campus, with a highly fragmented fleet and rising complaints about quality and cost. It turned to Lexmark, using products and services including Lexmark Managed Print Services, Lexmark multifunction products, and Lexmark Print Management with Secure Print Release.
Lexmark, working with WBM Office Systems, replaced the decentralized fleet with a standardized, optimized print environment and added asset management, reporting, and secure print release. The results were significant: device headcount had already been cut by 30% and the university was on track for a 60% reduction overall, with expected savings of 138,719 kg of CO2 emissions and 147,359 kWh of electricity. Lexmark’s solution also reduced waste from abandoned print jobs and improved security and user satisfaction.
