Spokane Schools replaces proprietary test scoring system with Lexmark Testing and Grading solution

Spokane Public School District, serving 29,000 students across 46 schools, needed a more affordable and flexible way to generate and score exams after budget cuts made its online testing system too costly. The district turned to Lexmark’s Testing and Grading solution to replace proprietary test-scoring tools and better integrate with its student information systems.

Lexmark implemented a server-based solution using multifunction printers to print bubble sheets on plain paper, scan tests at each school, and automatically route results into SASI and PowerSchool. The change eliminated a $70,000 annual fee and delivered savings exceeding $60,000, with projected districtwide savings of more than $125,000 a year, while also improving speed, reliability, and test-preparation flexibility.
