Roslyn Union Free School District tosses copiers in campaign to rethink paper use

Roslyn Union Free School District, a five-school district on Long Island serving 3,400 students, was struggling with high copier lease and maintenance costs, heavy paper usage, and inefficient standalone devices. The district turned to Lexmark and its multifunction products as part of a total cost of ownership review to replace leased copiers and reduce printing expenses.

Lexmark helped Roslyn implement a phased rollout of networked MFPs, remote fleet management, and card-based access controls to limit unnecessary printing and copying. The results included more than $148,000 in savings and an 81% reduction in paper consumption, from 1.5 million sheets to 273,000 sheets per month, with additional mail-related costs expected to fall by 40%.
