A Lexmark Case Study
Prince George’s County Public Schools, the second-largest school system in Maryland, needed a faster, more flexible way to administer and grade assessments. Its existing bubble-sheet process required transporting tests to a central facility, delayed feedback, and took too much teacher time; for example, grading a 20-question quiz could take up to two hours. The district turned to Lexmark and its Testing & Grading solution, along with Lexmark multifunction products.
Lexmark implemented a pilot at Carmody Hills Elementary School that let teachers create quizzes on demand, print customized bubble sheets on plain paper, scan them on the same device, and get immediate results. The impact was significant: grading time dropped by 80% to 90%, paper use was cut in half with two-sided answer sheets, and teachers gained instant feedback to better target instruction. The pilot was successful, and Prince George’s County Public Schools began planning a district-wide rollout with Lexmark.
