Ocean County Utilities Authority, a New Jersey wastewater utility serving 36 municipalities, needed to improve slow, paper-heavy accounts payable and document approval processes. Its three AP clerks were handling up to 600 vouchers a month with manual imaging and archival workflows, and the company also needed a solution that would integrate cleanly with SAP. Lexmark was selected as the vendor, with Perceptive Content as the document management and workflow solution.
Lexmark implemented Perceptive Content across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and purchasing, enabling electronic scanning, workflow routing, and one-click linking of documents to SAP records. The results included clearing a six-month backlog within six months, saving about 40 hours per month in approval time and 40 hours per month in scanning time, eliminating overtime, and reducing more than 2,000 photocopies per month.
