A Lexmark Case Study
National Furniture Retailing Provider, a major U.S. furniture retail chain with nearly 150 stores, needed to replace aging printers, reduce maintenance costs, and keep store staff focused on sales instead of IT support. The company also required printing compatibility with IBM AS/400 data streams and special price-tag media, making the move to a new print environment more complex. Lexmark was selected to help solve these challenges with a managed print services approach.
Lexmark replaced more than 300 in-store printers with new monochrome laser printers and took over fleet monitoring, maintenance, toner replenishment, and on-site support under a long-term lease. The result was lower operating cost and better visibility into printer usage, with the retailer paying only for pages actually printed. Printer-related help desk tickets fell from 20 or more per month to six or fewer, a 70% reduction, while store personnel and IT staff were freed to focus on core business tasks.
