Markham Stouffville Hospital - Customer Case Study

Markham Stouffville Hospital, a growing two-site community hospital near Toronto, needed to prepare its print and clinical workflows for a major expansion while reducing costs, improving security, and speeding up physician order processing. With more than 250 aging printers and over 6 million pages a year, the hospital turned to Lexmark, using Lexmark multifunction products, Lexmark Managed Print Services, and Perceptive Content to modernize its output environment and clinical document handling.

Lexmark standardized the hospital’s fleet, remotely managed devices and supplies, enabled secure print release, and automated physician order routing by letting clinicians scan orders on a Lexmark MFP and send them digitally to pharmacy. The results included faster medication delivery, nearly zero lost orders, a 75% reduction in order follow-ups, more than 1,000 hours saved annually for the seven-person pharmacy team, and about $715K in total benefits over three years, including roughly $120K in yearly consumables savings and $68K in device savings.
