A Lexmark Case Study
FamilySearch, the world’s largest genealogy organization, was struggling with an outdated, fragmented print, copy, and scan environment across its Centers. Its legacy fleet of more than 8,000 mostly non-networked devices drove high consumables and maintenance costs, cluttered facilities, and limited patron services, prompting FamilySearch to seek Lexmark’s help with managed print services and a more modern document workflow.
Lexmark implemented a standardized managed print services solution with 3,800 web-enabled multifunction devices across FamilySearch’s North American Centers, replacing about 8,000 old devices and consolidating service under one partner. The result was projected savings of $7.7 million over five years, a 146% ROI, and payback within two years, along with a 53% reduction in devices, $1.3 million in CAPEX avoidance, lower maintenance and consumables costs, and improved patron and staff experience.
