A Lexmark Case Study
Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI), one of the country’s largest outpatient imaging providers, needed a flexible way to manage and share medical images across many hospitals, physician groups, and markets. With operations spanning 40 states, CDI faced the challenge of supporting diverse workflows and technology environments while maintaining interoperability. Lexmark Healthcare’s Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) was used as the core system to help CDI connect with partners and manage all medical images and unstructured patient content.
Lexmark’s VNA solution enabled CDI to scale from 20 locations to 115 imaging centers and more than 100 mobile imaging units, while supporting over 200 VPN connections for image exchange and storing more than 2 billion images. The platform improved interoperability, streamlined workflows, and helped CDI deliver faster, more patient-centric care, including near real-time image sharing for urgent cases. It also supported analytics for safety and quality improvement and helped CDI generate new revenue by offering archiving services to partners.
