Case Study: U.S. Army Training Facility achieves greater document security with Lexmark

A Lexmark Case Study

Preview of the U.S. Army Training Facility Case Study

Army training facility uses common access card-enabled Lexmark multifunction products to heighten document security

The U.S. Army Training Facility needed to better protect sensitive documents and meet Department of Defense security requirements, since its printers and copiers were previously left largely unprotected. Although the site already used common access card (CAC) authentication for network access, print, copy, fax, and scan activities could still expose confidential information. Lexmark provided the facility with secure multifunction products and Print Management with Print Release for Common Access Card.

Lexmark implemented CAC-enabled MFPs with secure print release and authentication software tied to active directory, allowing users to authenticate at the device before releasing jobs or using copy, fax, and scan functions. The deployment included about 75 MFPs for roughly 3,000 users. As a result, print jobs no longer output until authenticated, reducing the risk of unattended confidential documents and helping the U.S. Army Training Facility improve compliance and security.
