The 48th Precinct NYPD Cold Case Squad faced uncooperative witnesses, misplaced notes with no dates of birth or Social Security numbers, and a key witness who had relocated “down south,” making traditional investigative leads ineffective.

By using Accurint LE Plus’s public records, phonetic searching, and associate/relative-linking tools, detectives quickly located three witnesses, traced an associate to the witness in Augusta, Georgia, secured re-interviews and a confession, and found a suspect at a Stamford shelter — leading to arrests and case closure. The platform converted a decades-old, seemingly unsolvable investigation into actionable leads and a successful resolution.
