Solving Cold Cases with LexisNexis® Accurint® LE Plus

LexisNexis Risk Solutions’ Accurint LE Plus played a central role in reopening the 1971 homicide of Isadore “Izzy” Pacht after the case had been cold for 34 years. The 48th Precinct NYPD Cold Case Squad faced uncooperative witnesses, misplaced notes with no dates of birth or Social Security numbers, and a key witness who had relocated “down south,” making traditional investigative leads ineffective.

By using Accurint LE Plus’s public records, phonetic searching, and associate/relative-linking tools, detectives quickly located three witnesses, traced an associate to the witness in Augusta, Georgia, secured re-interviews and a confession, and found a suspect at a Stamford shelter — leading to arrests and case closure. The platform converted a decades-old, seemingly unsolvable investigation into actionable leads and a successful resolution.
