Preview of the mBank S.A. Case Study

Polish Bank Reduces Costs by Automating Cross-Border Payments

mBank S.A., a leading Polish retail and corporate bank handling over 1.4 million cross-border transactions annually, faced rising costs and operational strain from manual routing lookups and payment booking. The bank needed to automate international payments to reduce manual workload, speed settlement, cut processing costs and improve competitiveness.

mBank integrated LexisNexis Bankers Almanac Global Payments File Plus into its core banking system (implementation under six months) to validate and enrich payments with routing data and receive daily updates. The result was straight-through processing for more than 99% of outgoing international payments, automation of roughly 135,000 cross-border payments per year, a 10% increase in transaction volume, productivity gains of 2–3 minutes per transaction, and annual operational savings of about 1,200,000 PLN with full ROI within one year.
