A LexisNexis Risk Solutions Case Study
Lancaster General Health, a 631-bed nonprofit health system in Lancaster, PA, was struggling to get patients to use its online portal because initial sign-up required in-person identity verification at a clinic or office. That inconvenience limited patient engagement with their electronic health records and threatened the system’s ability to meet Meaningful Use requirements and secure related government funding.
LGH implemented LexisNexis Identity Verification (knowledge-based authentication) to allow remote, automated identity checks and one-step online registration. After a short pilot and three days of vendor support, portal registrations jumped 211% — from 9,000 to 28,000 users in eight months — improving patient access to lab results and communication with clinicians and strengthening LGH’s alignment with MU goals.
