A mid-sized regional healthcare system in the Northeast — comprising a general hospital, a women’s and children’s center and outpatient primary and specialty practices — needed a better way to get patients into its MyChart portal. Requiring patients to visit a facility to complete registration and relying on weak portal authentication discouraged enrollment and left the system vulnerable as online and virtual care use grew.

The system implemented LexisNexis Risk Solutions’ integrated identity verification (knowledge-based authentication) with Epic/MyChart, enabling secure online registration and automatic access-code generation without in-person visits.
