Stockton Fire Department - Customer Case Study

Stockton (CA) Fire Department, which serves a city of about 310,000 with 190 firefighters, had relied on paper training records that were difficult to manage, retrieve and validate. Facing costly academy attrition and the need for secure, defensible documentation, Stockton turned to Lexipol and has used the Lexipol EVALS mobile skills assessment solution since 2015 to address those challenges.

Lexipol implemented EVALS’ cloud-based records and video-based assessment tools—digital taskbooks, skill sheets, exams, offline video capture, preloaded “flipped classroom” content and a message board—giving partner instructors access and creating transparent, validated training records. Stockton reports recruits are better prepared and learn faster, instructors are more accountable, and legal exposure is reduced; the department cut its academy failure rate from 36% to 19%, producing significant cost savings on roughly $25,000 invested per recruit.
