Morgan County Sheriff’s Office Reducing Risk Through Up-To Date Policies

The Morgan County Sheriff's Office, an 11‑member agency in Utah serving roughly 10,000 residents, struggled to keep its policy manual and related training up to date. After attending a class by Lexipol co‑founder Gordon Graham, Sheriff Blaine Breshears adopted Lexipol’s policy management solution — including its Knowledge Management System, Daily Training Bulletins, automated tracking and archiving — to address the liability and workload risks of their previous manual process.

Lexipol led a complete overhaul of the agency’s policy manual and deployed its Knowledge Management System; implementation took about six months and used Lexipol’s automated tracking to ensure deputies acknowledged policies and completed training. As a result, Morgan County can prove policy changes and training completion, defended a use‑of‑force lawsuit with no policy issues, reduced ongoing workload, and gained assurance that Lexipol will issue required updates when laws change — all at a minimal cost.
