A Lexipol Case Study
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, a 24‑officer agency serving about 33,000 residents, faced growing responsibilities from new local development while operating on a tight budget. Aging, unreliable body‑worn cameras and a need for two additional patrol officers were compounded when county turnover locked the county out of Grants.gov and the agency lacked internal grant‑writing expertise. Sheriff Patrick Williamson turned to Lexipol for help, leveraging Lexipol’s Grant Services, Grant Assistance Platform, discounted grant writing services and its policies and updates solution.
Lexipol restored access to the federal grants system, helped submit a COPS Hiring Program application (with a 50% discount) and quickly pursued a BWC grant through its Grant Assistance Platform, working with Axon. The county was awarded $14,620 for Axon body‑worn cameras, received working cameras for the entire department, and after grant assistance costs saved about $10,000; applications were submitted in under a week and the COPS award is pending. Lexipol’s services also strengthened the agency’s grant competitiveness by documenting plans for integrating new equipment and personnel.
