Batavia Fire Department Achieving Operational Consistency & Continuity

The City of Batavia (NY) Fire Department, a 36-person career force serving about 15,500 residents, faced frequent leadership turnover, mission shifts (including loss of ambulance transport) and a patchwork of outdated, memo‑based policies that undermined operational continuity while pursuing accreditation. To address this, Batavia began using Lexipol in 2016 and selected Lexipol’s New York Fire Policies and Training solution plus a supplemental procedures manual.

Lexipol worked with the department to adopt standardized policies (retaining applicable legacy memos), deliver Daily Training Bulletins and provide mobile app access—with iPads on all frontline vehicles—and an improving Knowledge Management System supported by responsive customer service. As a result, Lexipol helped Batavia convert unwritten practices into a consistent, documented playbook, improve shared understanding of procedures across personnel, and create continuity that will endure future leadership changes.
