A LevelBlue Case Study
Los Angeles County faced the significant challenge of running elections with an antiquated, inefficient, and inflexible voting system that had remained largely unchanged since the 1960s. The county's enormous size, with 5.2 million registered voters, and its need for multilingual and accessible options made its outdated technology a major hindrance. Finding no commercially available system that could scale to its needs, the county partnered with LevelBlue to build a new solution from the ground up.
LevelBlue collaborated with Los Angeles County to implement the "Voting Solutions for All People" (VSAP) initiative, a top-to-bottom reimagining of the entire voting process. The solution, developed with extensive community input and design thinking, involved creating custom open-source software and new touchscreen voting machines. The result for the county was a more accessible, flexible, and user-friendly system that successfully modernized elections for its vast and diverse population.
