A LetsBuild Case Study
VolkerFitzpatrick, a UK main contractor delivering the West Anglia Main Line (WAML) Capacity Improvement Project as part of Network Rail’s £170m Lee Valley programme, faced fragmented communications and slow, labour‑intensive reporting across multiple teams. Progress was being tracked with hour‑by‑hour programmes, WhatsApp, emails, paper notes and Excel, leading to delayed updates (formal reports every 4–12 hours), high admin overhead and risk of missed information. To address this, VolkerFitzpatrick deployed LetsBuild’s GenieBelt on the project.
LetsBuild’s GenieBelt centralized live on‑site planning and progress reporting, automatically capturing photos, issues and programme updates from operatives and generating instant reports; the platform was up and running in three days. The solution gave VolkerFitzpatrick full visibility across site and subcontractors, removed reliance on calls/WhatsApp/emails, enabled proactive coordination (notifying subcontractors a week in advance to avoid idle time) and cut administrative effort by automating reporting — converting 4–12 hour formal updates into real‑time, accessible data.
