Article, a digital-only furniture retailer, faced a sudden surge in online demand during the pandemic and needed to rapidly modernize its systems to protect customer experience. Lenses helped Article’s engineering team operate Kafka through self-service tools for topics, consumers, schemas, and Kafka Connect, without requiring deep Kafka expertise. As a result, 25 engineers could manage 13+ microservices more efficiently, break up the monolith in weeks instead of years, and focus on improving order processing, fulfillment, and customer communication while supporting 220k new customers and 70% year-over-year revenue growth.
