Case Study: Avanza achieves secure self-service Kafka observability with Lenses

A Lenses Case Study

Preview of the Avanza Case Study

Avanza Our goal is for teams to own their event streaming data

Avanza, a leading Swedish investment and savings digital platform with more than 1 million customers, needed a more secure and scalable way to manage its growing Kafka-based data platform. As teams across the company began using event streaming for developers, data analysts, and product owners, Avanza struggled with self-service access, data governance, and the complexity of operating Kafka with open-source tooling alone. Lenses provided the observability and data platform capabilities they needed.

Avanza implemented Lenses on Apache Kafka to give teams a shared, real-time view of data, schema, and application topology, while also enabling data masking, granular permissions, auditing, and troubleshooting. With Lenses, Avanza reduced dependence on the platform team, improved self-service for 20 teams on Kafka, and saved significant time for back-end developers and data engineers by making it easier to inspect data and monitor consumer groups.
