Utah Transit Authority Upgrades Access Control Transition to S2 Security Solution Made Easy With Existing Mercury Hardware

Utah Transit Authority, which operates transit for three million people across Utah’s Wasatch Front and employs over 2,500 staff, needed to upgrade its access control for lower maintenance costs, easier use, and future expansion. To meet those goals they chose LenelS2’s NetBox access control solution and planned a phased conversion that would leverage existing Mercury hardware to keep costs and disruption down.

Stone Security implemented LenelS2 NetBox Enterprise, taking over nearly 320 card readers across eight main facilities and integrating intrusion inputs/outputs with the existing Mercury panels. The browser‑based, zero‑software‑footprint NetBox system made configuration and monitoring simple, let UTA stage installations to spread costs, and enabled immediate expansion (including a recently added police building). The LenelS2 deployment delivered a smoother takeover than expected, clearer actionable access events, and a scalable, cost‑effective platform for future growth.
