A LenelS2 Case Study
Norwich Free Academy, an independent high school in Norwich, CT with more than 2,300 students on a 38‑acre campus and a public museum, sought to enhance security and visitor management while preserving its open‑campus environment. To enable rapid lock‑downs without a computer and to integrate with existing video surveillance, the school engaged LenelS2, deploying an S2 NetBox® Extreme and 14 S2 Network Nodes as the core access control solution.
LenelS2 integrated credential‑based access with more than 125 IP cameras, elevator controls, two staffed visitor check‑in points and an electronic gate, allowing public access to the Slater Museum while restricting other floors and reducing multiple unsecured entry points. The LenelS2 system streamlined campus security operations, gave staff single‑card lockdown capability for a building or the whole campus, and improved visibility of who is on campus—changes that produced measurable operational efficiencies and an overwhelmingly positive community response.
