Alexion Envisioned a Robust System With Flexible, Leading-edge Technology and Turned to S2 Security

Alexion Pharmaceuticals, a fast-growing biopharmaceutical headquartered in Cheshire, CT with facilities and staff around the world, needed a robust, centrally managed security system to protect labs, manufacturing sites and sensitive data while meeting FDA, HIPAA and SOX requirements. To replace a minimal legacy infrastructure and support a distributed mobile workforce, Alexion engaged LenelS2 and deployed S2 solutions (including S2 Global, S2 Enterprise, S2 NetVR and S2 NetBox VR) with help from Security Management Consulting and Sonitrol New England.

LenelS2 implemented an appliance-based architecture—S2 Enterprise at HQ, S2 NetVR in several U.S. sites and S2 NetBox VR for international locations—with a planned migration of 16 systems to S2 Global for centralized management. The deployment eliminated PC client licensing, reduced bandwidth by storing event-focused video locally with central access, sped implementations, improved forensic search and incident response, and gave Alexion local autonomy plus centralized control and redundancy.
