Case Study: Compass Group achieves SAP cost savings and resilience with Lemongrass and AWS

A Lemongrass Case Study

Preview of the Compass Group Case Study

Compass Group UK is one of the leading food and support service providers in the UK and Ireland, employing 60,000+ people and working across thousands of locations

Compass Group UK, a major food and support service provider, relied on a large on-premise SAP system for critical functions like payroll but was dissatisfied with its performance, support costs, and disaster recovery capabilities. They faced a significant challenge in improving system resilience and reducing their infrastructure footprint. Compass Group adopted a cloud-first strategy and engaged the vendor Lemongrass to manage the migration of their SAP environment to AWS.

Lemongrass successfully executed an 18-month migration plan for Compass Group, which included a proof of concept and the movement of ancillary systems to AWS. The solution provided significant cost savings by eliminating capital expenditure on hardware, allowing the company to pay only for what it uses, and optimizing resources with AWS Reserved Instances. As a result, Compass Group reduced its data center footprint by 60-70 percent and built a more resilient system for its business-critical SAP applications.
