Federal Bureau of Investigation advances NGI with Leidos after 10+ years of IAFIS

The Federal Bureau of Investigation needed to replace its aging fingerprint identification system with new capabilities that leveraged the latest biometrics technology to protect against growing threats. The FBI's CJIS Division worked with Leidos to develop the Next Generation Identification (NGI) system.

Leidos implemented an agile approach to develop and incrementally integrate the NGI system, minimizing the time between development and deployment. The resulting state-of-the-art biometric identification system provides the world's largest and most efficient electronic repository of biometric and criminal history information, which is used by authorities at all levels to keep Americans safe.
