Seamless event registration with CodeDay and the Legalesign API

CodeDay, run by the StudentRND charity, runs 24-hour hackathon events in 43 U.S. cities to get students of all backgrounds building apps and games. Before using Legalesign, CodeDay handled waivers by emailing PDFs that were often lost or forgotten, creating 30-minute check-in queues, missed parent signatures for minors, and added liability across roughly 10,000 annual registrations.

CodeDay integrated the Legalesign API into its registration flow so waivers are created, embedded and signed online (or sent to parents) with automated reminders for incomplete signings. The result: registration is now seamless and takes only a few minutes, check-in times fell from about 30 minutes to 2–3 minutes, waiver-related support is near zero, and liability from unsigned waivers has been eliminated.
