Society of Counsel Representing Accused Persons chooses customizable Legal Files to meet diverse needs

Society of Counsel Representing Accused Persons is a private non-profit public defense firm in Seattle and Kent with more than 90 staff providing legal services to over 13,000 indigent clients annually across a wide range of case types. The firm needed to replace an outdated, limited legacy system with a flexible, browser-accessible case management solution that could handle diverse matter types, enable remote access (including from court), and support complex reporting requirements.

They implemented the web-based Legal Files system, converting legacy data and creating custom case templates, windows, automated workflows and document templates that integrate with Outlook and Word. The rollout achieved full user adoption (roughly 100 users), improved productivity and efficiency in case handling and calendaring, reduced duplicate work, and delivered stronger management-level reporting and case collaboration.
