A Legal Files Software Case Study
Legal Services Programs in Connecticut is a coalition of four nonprofit legal aid organizations that provide free civil legal services to low-income residents across the state. With about 200 users in 10 offices and a single statewide intake hotline, the programs struggled with four separate databases, inefficient intake and eligibility screening, slow file transfers between offices, limited reporting, and a need for Outlook and document integration.
They implemented Legal Files Enterprise: a single centralized database with secure, office-specific views, a file/case distributor for one-click transfers (while retaining originals for reporting), an Eligibility Wizard for intake and poverty screening, Word-based document assembly, Outlook integration, and Crystal Reports support. The result was faster intake and case transfers, better collaboration and time savings for advocates, consolidated IT infrastructure, improved reporting, and a system that meets both intake and complex case-management needs.
