Flagstaff USD teaches digital literacy skills with Learning.com

Flagstaff Unified School District, led by Director of Technology Mary Knight, needed a simple, standards-aligned way to teach digital literacy across a multicultural district with many language-minority and Title I students and limited elementary technology staff. The district also had to meet e-Rate internet safety requirements, prepare students for computer-based PARCC/Smarter Balanced assessments, and justify technology spending to stakeholders.

Flagstaff adopted Learning.com’s EasyTech, using auto-created teacher accounts and a custom curriculum sequence to align lessons to district goals. EasyTech delivered K–8 digital literacy and internet-safety lessons, updated PARCC/Smarter Balanced–aligned modules, and real-time usage reporting. The result was steady growth in use, broader integration of technology skills into core instruction despite staffing constraints, compliance with e-Rate, and improved readiness for online assessments.
