The State of Tennessee’s IT organization faced the challenge of modernizing its capabilities and retaining top talent while supporting a large government on a restrictive budget. Needing to update its IT organizational structures and classifications, the state required a workforce development program to equip its 1,500 IT staff with the skills necessary for a 21st-century government. They partnered with Learning Tree International to address this.
Learning Tree implemented the IT Academy, a customized professional development hub featuring over 20 instructor-led curriculum paths and web-based training modules. The solution included a knowledge portal and a full-circle training experience to ensure skills application. As a result, the state reported a 27% performance improvement among employees, delivered over 7,600 course attendances, and modernized its entire workforce's skills using only 0.5% of its IT budget. Learning Tree's program significantly enhanced competencies in key areas like software development and information security.
