Unifying City & Guilds Techbac systems into a single record

City & Guilds launched TechBac® to give 14–19 year olds a workplace-focused alternative to traditional pathways, creating a Skills Zone that links workplace training, mentoring, business challenges and an online CV using xAPI. To capture and unify learners’ progress across multiple systems and scale to high demand, City & Guilds selected Learning Locker as their Learning Record Store, implemented by Learning Pool Limited.

Learning Pool Limited deployed the Learning Locker LRS and APIs to aggregate xAPI statements, power the personalised Skills Wheel dashboard and enable exportable CVs and Mozilla Open Badges. The solution supports peaks to more than 50,000 learners, surfaces predictive analytics for tutors via the Performance Optimiser to identify at‑risk students, and delivers portable, evidence‑based badges — the first production implementation combining xAPI and Open Badges for City & Guilds.
