Schlumberger asked Learning Pool Limited to design a simplified, pre-course game to prepare learners for instructor-led training and help them grasp complex procurement and technical trade-offs before sessions. The challenge was to create an engaging, easy-to-play experience that could be rolled out globally and encourage peer comparison ahead of in-person training.

Learning Pool Limited built a game-based learning activity that learners complete before training, with strong global uptake (including Dubai), peer score comparison features, and positive learner feedback on clarifying complex issues. The partnership delivered measurable recognition—Schlumberger and Learning Pool won gold for Best Learning Game at the Learning Technologies Awards 2017—and participants reported better understanding and guidance from the simulated procurement vs. technical scenarios.
