Somerset County Council needed to move beyond an annual review model to continuous performance development—agreeing expectations, enabling delivery, giving feedback, guidance and recognition—so managers and teams could meet organisational and personal objectives. To deliver an online appraisal and performance management solution, the council worked with Learning Pool Limited and its LMS (The Learning Centre) to provide all-digital appraisals functionality.
Learning Pool Limited adapted the council’s existing appraisals into its LMS, adding defined appraisal stages, automated notifications, 360° feedback, goal-setting, and a Personal Development Plan workflow, plus sophisticated reporting and team-review dashboards. The project met its timeline, produced positive user feedback and stronger management insight, and leveraged an already engaged workforce averaging 1,000 completed modules and 4,000 log-ins per month to close the performance loop.
