Pioneering social and online learning for further education

The University of San Diego worked with Learning Pool Limited to solve a curriculum delivery challenge: for its Sustainable Supply Chain Management course there were no suitable textbooks or single sources of material. Building on a long-standing relationship that dates back to early online learning developments (when the product was first known as Curatr), the university adopted Learning Pool Limited’s Stream LXP to curate and deliver diverse, up-to-date learning content to cohorts of 8,000+ students.

Learning Pool Limited implemented Stream LXP to aggregate articles, videos and web pages, and to drive social, gamified engagement with leaderboards and points. The platform’s learning analytics let faculty identify and support students, and students can track their own activity—enabling personalized feedback and earlier application of learning. Results include high student endorsement of Stream as the “best part” of course delivery and a reported completion rate of around 50% for one MOOC run on the system, alongside improved engagement and course-related research activity.
