Case Study: Jisc achieves a national Learning Records Warehouse and wider learning analytics adoption with Learning Pool Limited's Learning Locker

Jisc, a UK non-departmental government body supporting education and research, set out to give universities and colleges better insight into learner data to boost student satisfaction, retention and attainment. To deliver a freemium learning analytics platform and associated tools, Jisc selected Learning Pool Limited and its Learning Locker Learning Record Store as the foundation for a national analytics service.

Learning Pool Limited worked with Jisc to extend Learning Locker into a national Learning Records Warehouse (LRW), building integrations with VLEs and predictive tools, co-creating xAPI recipes and providing open APIs for dashboards and apps. The LRW de-risked adoption and lowered barriers for vendors; more than 50% of UK universities expressed firm interest and data from around 50 universities was projected to be in the LRW by the end of the 2016/17 academic year, creating a unique big-data source for benchmarking and research.
