REA Group, Australia’s leading residential and commercial property‑portal operator with over 900 employees, faced a challenge balancing unpredictable day‑to‑day support tickets with larger engineering projects while scaling agile practices beyond a physical card wall. Physical boards were hard to modify, non‑portable, and poorly suited to remote teams, limiting transparency and slowing delivery as the company grew.

REA adopted agile and lean practices and implemented LeanKit as a cloud‑based Kanban solution, integrated with Zendesk and displayed on large touchscreens. The digital boards enabled two‑week Scrum cycles, clearer prioritization, and cross‑team visibility; cycle time improved by about 30%, work transparency and SLA management increased, and LeanKit usage expanded to roughly 40 boards across HR, legal, procurement and other teams, including managing the new head‑office build.
