Veeco Instruments Reduces Critical Shortages by 50% with LeanDNA

Veeco Instruments, a global capital equipment supplier for semiconductor, photonics and related markets, faced inefficient, manual shortage reporting that relied on exporting SAP data to Excel and lengthy, error-prone shortage meetings. Master Scheduler Greg Martin needed better forward visibility for the 13-week builds and the few monthly system launches they manage, but SAP alone couldn’t proactively surface future shortages or enable effective cross‑team coordination.

Veeco implemented LeanDNA as its intelligent supply chain execution platform, using LeanDNA’s Clear to Build and Line of Balance reports to see live supplier feeds, surface missing parts, prioritize work, and assign ownership. As a result of LeanDNA, critical shortages fell by 50%, time in shortage meetings was cut roughly in half, and days to resolve quality purchase orders improved from 240 to 120 (a 50% improvement), freeing the team to focus on additional supply‑chain improvements.
