Spirit AeroSystems Reduces Inventory by 16%

Spirit AeroSystems, one of the world’s largest aerostructures manufacturers, faced rising supply-chain complexity, manual reporting, and excess inventory that tied up cash while customer requirements and production schedules constantly changed. To address these challenges the company deployed the LeanDNA platform (including its Supplier Connect portal) across multiple sites beginning in 2018 to replace spreadsheets, gain visibility, and standardize supply‑chain processes.

LeanDNA delivered real‑time inventory visibility, risk and demand signals, PO‑level recommendations (including split and reschedule options), and a supplier portal to drive collaboration and prioritization. After a nine‑week implementation across four sites, Spirit achieved a 16% reduction in inventory, improved financial planning and standardized workflows, and moved toward having roughly 50% of suppliers on LeanDNA’s Supplier Connect to further improve on‑time delivery and cash management.
