Land Line Media, the long‑running publication for independent truck drivers and the voice of the Owner‑Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA), needed to turn its rich digital content into a tool for recruiting paid members rather than just selling subscriptions. To do that it required a streamlined, mobile‑friendly site that could build relationships with on‑the‑road readers and make it easy for them to sample content before committing — and it chose Leaky Paywall to manage access and subscriptions.
Leaky Paywall was implemented as a metered access layer (two free articles) that prompts readers to register for a free subscription, starting an email pipeline to OOIDA and a clear path toward paid membership. Combined with the site redesign (consolidated issues, searchable web magazine, podcasts with timestamps, customizable state/topic feeds and AS/400 integration for legacy print subscribers), the result is higher engagement and a measurable spike in traffic since the relaunch; the site also supports Land Line Media’s largely mobile audience (over 70% mobile readers) while turning casual readers into registered prospects via Leaky Paywall.
