How Apps Helped A Publisher Gain 50% More Readers Without Increasing Workflow

Tea Journey Magazine launched in 2016 to serve tea connoisseurs and built its site on WordPress with Zeen101’s IssueM. To manage subscriptions, sampling, and SEO-friendly access they integrated Leaky Paywall, but faced a key challenge: over half of their audience preferred reading in apps, so they needed an app presence without adding publisher workflow.

By combining Leaky Paywall with IssueM and Zeen101’s UniPress app solution, Tea Journey ran web and mobile subscriptions, ads, push notifications and publishing from a single WordPress dashboard. With Leaky Paywall controlling access, they gained about 1,000 web subscribers and 500 app subscribers within months (roughly a 50% lift), with app subscriptions continuing to grow — all without increasing operational work.
