The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) needed to speed up software delivery and reduce deployment risk across complex digital experiences like Medicare.gov and internal systems. CMS used LaunchDarkly to manage feature releases, control user experiences during Open Enrollment, and improve testing workflows without constantly redeploying code.

With LaunchDarkly, CMS rolled out a new Medicare.gov global header across six application teams in a single day, without downtime or call center alerts, and used flags to safely stage and hide new features until ready. The agency also streamlined testing for its EASi application by temporarily adjusting permissions with targeting rules, helping one team save 75 hours in five months.
