Surf Life Saving - Customer Case Study

Surf Life Saving, Australia’s peak coastal water‑safety organization with over 168,823 volunteer members, needed to strengthen cybersecurity after industry attacks raised concerns. ICT Manager Scott Randall evaluated options and selected LastPass’s cloud‑based, zero‑knowledge password management solution to protect sensitive data and provide secure, user‑friendly credential management across the organization.

LastPass was rolled out from the technical integrations team to the whole organization, offering encrypted device‑level vaults, shared folders, browser autofill, instant provisioning/revocation, and federated Microsoft login with MFA. The deployment became central to daily operations—enabling password recovery, tracking and auditing user activity, and safe credential sharing—earning “zero negative feedback” from staff and laying the groundwork for broader security measures like simulated phishing.
